Alex, Tim, Mike, Noell
Last Sunday night, we had the chance to go visit with some of Mike's old high school buddies. It has been a while since we've seen them. It was so fun to catch up with them, some of them have kids now too, and its so cute to see what good Dad's they are.
Some of you may know of the life that Mike grew up in. It wasn't always positive, encouraging, or very supportive. There was abuse and addiction. There was love, I'm sure, just maybe no one knew how to show it the right way.
My heart aches when I think back to little Mike and some of the things he has been through and overcome, and I think, how did he make it out - and my mind turns to these wonderful guys.
Without knowing it, these guys gave Mike many of the tools that he needed to succeed in this world.
They showed him what it was like, to be happy. to be a part of a good home and family. to have goals and aspirations. that life could be different. that HE could be be different. that he could break a cycle. they invited him into their homes. they fed him. they simply cared about him.
They always keep in touch, and I am forever appreciative of their friendship towards Mike.
