Well it turned out to be just that.
My tomatoes grew to about 3 feet then turned brown and croaked, same with basil and cilantro.
My zucchini has since produced 2 zucchinis, and I still see more there, so there has been some success! I'm not too upset, it is after all my first try...we'll see about next year!
This is my 2nd zucchini. 
I made bread with it, yum

Nice work, Jaime! More than what I could of done! I tried to buy plants once, and "decorate" my patio. Apparently, you are supposed to water than regularly. Who knew? My roommate and I went out there one day, and all the plants were dead. Go figure! You're my garden hero!
